The Peugeot 203 is a large family car made between 1948 and 1960
The 203 was Peugeot's first new model launched after World War II and was was the first monocoque bodied production Peugeot.
It was launched initally as a 4-door saloon. then from 1950 a 4-door station wagon and van version (Commerciale) and a 6-seat (Familiale) with three rows of seats, were offered on a wheelbase lengthened by 20 cm. In 1952 a two door coupe was introduced.
All versions were powered by a 1290 cc Straight-4 engine, which originally gave 42hp, increasing over the years to 49 hp. These drove the rear wheels via a 4 speed gearbox.
685,628 203s of all variants were made in France. The car was also assembled in Australia.
