The Peugeot 403 is a car produced between May 1955 and October 1966.

The 403 made its debut as a saloon with sunroof on 20 April 1955 at the Trocadéro Palace in Paris.

The convertible appeared in August 1956, then in September 1956 the "Familiale" 9 seater and "Commerciale" estate versions on an extended wheelbase. 2 door pickup and 3 door van commercial variants of the 403 were also produced.

In October 1959 an 1800cc diesel engine version was released, which made the 403 the first French diesel car series.

A total of 1,214,121 of all types, including commercial models, were produced.

In the TV Series Colombo, Columbo's car is a 403 Grande Luxe Cabriolet (convertible)
